Telehealth Billing — Permanently Changed, Not Going Back

Several pandemic-era telehealth flexibilities are now permanent. For family medicine practices, this matters:

• ✅ Audio-only visits remain billable for patients without video access
• ✅ Telehealth for behavioral health no longer requires an initial in-person visit (in most cases)
• ✅ FQHCs and RHCs can serve as distant sites
• ✅ Geographic restrictions have been lifted for mental health services

The question isn't whether to offer telehealth — it's whether your billing is capturing it correctly.

Are your telehealth claims including place of service code 02 (or 10 for home)? Is modifier 95 being appended correctly? Small coding errors on high-volume services add up quickly.
